Job Summary

Are you interested in designing and implementing a scalable, flexible architecture on PlayStation®? Our Software Engineering Co-ops work alongside our full time software engineers to produce real products and services that matter to our customers. Focusing on PS5 console software, you’ll contribute to developing features that enhance the PlayStation® experience for millions of users. Collaborating with a team of skilled engineers, you’ll help build modern API-driven applications for the PlayStation®5 platform. As part of a globally distributed team, you’ll gain valuable experience in a dynamic, multicultural environment while implementing innovative console software solutions. 

Responsibilities: 

  • Produce well written features that will be used by millions of passionate customers
  • Help maintain existing applications
  • Write clear, maintainable, portable, and highly functional code
  • Test and document code produced

Minimum Qualifications:

  • A good understanding of object-oriented principles.
  • Familiarity with common data structures and algorithms
  • Fluent in at least one programming language
  • Experience with some web technologies and frameworks

Preferred Requirements:

  • Proficient with JavaScript
  • Experience developing single-page web applications using frameworks like Ember.js, React Native, AngularJS, Backbone.js
  • Knowledge of HTML5 and CSS3 features and modern browser architecture
  • Experience with agile development practices
  • Experience with Node.js and Redis, or similar technologies
  • Experience with C#, Java, or OO C++ code is recommended
  • Proven track record of shipping applications (not just static websites) built on modern web technologies
  • Excellent communication skills, and hopefully a good sense of humor!

A few other things you should know:

  • Our office is a fun, relaxed and casual environment. We’re a tight-knit community of about 50+ full-time employees, and we enjoy welcoming new co-ops each term (we typically have 5 or more)
  • We're currently offering a hybrid work environment, with some folks working remotely and others working from the office. You can choose what suits you best! If you do choose to work remotely, you'll find that we connect heavily over Slack and video conferencing. During lunch breaks and team hangouts you'll find folks playing network-based games and connecting about things outside of work.
    • Please note that Day 1 of your co-op term will be held onsite at our office in Waterloo, ON. The Fall 2025 term will run from September 8 - December 12, 2025.

At SIE, we consider several factors when setting each role’s base pay range, including the competitive benchmarking data for the market and geographic location. 

Please note that the base pay range may vary in line with our hybrid working policy and individual base pay will be determined based on job-related factors which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location.
