The Global Payments team enables players across the world to easily and securely purchase their favorite games and services. We work to ensure that PlayStation Store transactions are seamless, reliable, and optimized for every market. 

 

The Opportunity 

We are seeking a Payment Operations Analyst (Entry Level) to join the Global Payments team in Tokyo. 
This is an ideal opportunity for an early-career professional interested in learning how digital payments work within one of the world’s leading entertainment brands. 

You will start by learning PlayStation’s payments systems, supporting basic operational processes such as transaction monitoring, reconciliation, and data reporting. Over time, you’ll develop analytical and cross-functional collaboration skills, contributing to continuous improvement across global payments operations. 

 

Key Responsibilities 

Operations Support 

  • Support daily payment processing activities for Japan and other Asia regions. 
  • Monitor transaction reports to identify discrepancies or operational issues. 
  • Assist with reconciliation tasks and issue tracking. 
  • Prepare summary reports for management and regional stakeholders. 
  • Collaborate with global and regional teams to ensure payment accuracy and efficiency. 
     

Data and Analysis 

  • Collect and organize transaction data to support payment performance tracking. 
  • Create basic reports or dashboards to visualize trends (e.g., approval rates, refund ratios). 
  • Perform ad-hoc data reviews using Excel or other analysis tools. 
  • Learn to interpret payment data to support decision-making. 
     

Collaboration & Communication 

  • Communicate with internal partners (Finance, Customer Service, Fraud, Product) in both Japanese and English. 
  • Support documentation, translations, and localized reporting as needed. 
  • Participate in meetings, providing updates and suggesting small process improvements. 
     

 

Learning & Development (Ramp Plan) 

This is a developmental role, designed for hands-on learning and progressive skill building. 

Months 1–3 

  • Complete onboarding and gain a foundational understanding of PlayStation’s payment systems and workflows. 
  • Shadow senior team members to observe daily operations and reconciliation processes. 
  • Learn key tools and internal systems. 
     

Months 4–6 

  • Begin handling basic payment tasks independently (e.g., reconciliation checks, exception tracking). 
  • Contribute to weekly and monthly reporting. 
  • Receive introductory training on analytics and payment fundamentals. 
     

Months 7–12 

  • Take ownership of specific reporting or monitoring areas. 
  • Contribute to small improvement initiatives and data-driven insights. 
  • Develop confidence in cross-team communication and presentation of findings. 

By the end of the first year, the analyst will have developed a strong understanding of Payments fundamentals and PlayStation’s payment operations. At the end of year one, you will be expected to pass the CPFPP (https://certification.merchantriskcouncil.org)You will also have foundational data skills to measure checkout performance and support future growth in payments or analytics. 

 

Skills & Qualifications 

Essential 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Economics, Finance, Data Science, or a related field. 
  • Basic analytical skills and familiarity with Excel or Google Sheets. 
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow structured processes. 
  • Effective communication in both Japanese and English (written and verbal). 
  • Interest in digital commerce, payments, or gaming. 
  • Team-oriented, proactive, and eager to learn in a global environment. 
  • Growth mindset; comfortable asking questions and operating in a fast-moving environment 

Preferred 

  • Basic knowledge of SQL or BI tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI). 
  • Coursework or internship experience in operations or data analysis. 
  • Passion for technology and the entertainment industry. 
  • Ability to learn quickly and juggle multiple complex tasks simultaneously
