Career pathways program
PlayStation Career Pathways is a multi-year career readiness program that elevates the next generation of business, creative and technical talent, bridges the opportunity gap, and removes financial barriers to higher education. Pathways Scholars get access to scholarships, mentorships and insider gaming industry expertise.
Our multi-year program provides
Scholarships
Each Pathways Scholar receives a scholarship in the amount of $30k to help offset the cost of their university education.
Education and career readiness
Pathways Scholars will receive access to education materials that will prepare them for finding and working in careers in the gaming industry. This will include behind the scenes video content, mock interview training, tips for building and maintaining a professional portfolio of their work, and much more.
Mentorship and advocacy
Each Pathways Scholar is matched with a Pathways Pro (mentor) to help guide them in their exploration of the gaming industry. In addition to being a professional mentor, Pathways Pros will also open their networks to scholars to help them further build their community within gaming.
Industry exposure
Pathways Scholars will receive opportunities to attend industry events, conferences, studio tours, and panels to provide them a more robust picture of what a career in gaming can entail.
Community building
Each Pathways Scholar will be part of a cohort of students who are also pursuing careers in the gaming industry. We intend for this to be a peer network where scholars can encourage and learn from each other during their academic journey and beyond.
Apprentice pathway program
Talent is everywhere—but opportunity isn't. That's where our Apprentice Pathway Program comes in.
We've created this six-month, paid program to open doors for people from nontraditional backgrounds. As an apprentice, you'll join a real SIE delivery team, contributing from day one and gaining hands-on experience that matters.
This isn't just a placement—it's a chance to build skills, grow your confidence, and see where a career in tech could take you. Whether you're reskilling, reentering the workforce, or forging your own path, this program is designed to support you every step of the way.

Who This Program Serves
Our Apprentice Pathway Program is built for people taking nontraditional routes into tech—and that's exactly the point.
That might mean you're:
- Pivoting into a new career
- A graduate of a coding bootcamp or similar program
- Self-taught in your field
- Returning to work after time away
- Building a career without a four-year degree
However you got here, you belong here.
We partner with nonprofit training organizations to connect with and support talent from these backgrounds helping create real access to opportunities and long-term careers in tech.
Program Overview
During the program, apprentices are fully embedded within a team—working alongside peers, reporting to a hiring manager, and contributing from day one.
They'll gain hands-on experience, real industry exposure, and a clear view of what day-to-day work in their field looks like.
What to expect:
- Duration: 6 months (with two cohorts each year)
- Employment type: Paid, contingent (temporary contractor) roles at SIE
- Location: Hybrid—splitting time between remote work and our SIE offices
Along the way, apprentices build valuable skills, grow their networks, and deepen their understanding of the industry.
At the end of the six months, next steps will depend on business needs. That could mean a contract extension, a full-time opportunity—or support as they take their next step beyond SIE.
